Visit to the Lake by Jen Seron

    What are these?

Crystal Lake in Michigan is a scant few miles from Lake Michigan near towns of Frankfort and Beulah. As a child we met family friends at the Congregational Summer Assembly (CSA). In this place nature is fresh and present. Baby's breath grows wild with Queen Anne's Lace and sweet peas twining on grassy dunes. A small cabin by the lake, the Taylor Cottage and its sister were home for two weeks at the end of summer. These drawings (in pencil, ink, Caran D'Ache watercolor and wax crayons on acid free paper) are from 2007.

    Why make them?

What do you love? I love being outside and observing nature at all scales-landscapes, lake, moon, sky, sun, sand, plants, animals, and rocks. All of it. We are all related and made of the same stuff; animal, vegetable, mineral. I love that we are outgrowths of the world reflecting upon itself.
